SMART Security Solutions is hosting its third
SMART Surveillance Conference
at the Indaba Conference Centre, Fourways, Johannesburg, on Thursday,
17 July 2025. The conference will explore the latest developments in
analytics and AI in the surveillance market, focusing on the
mining, retail,
healthcare, logistics, and
transportation industries. It will also explore how
analytics and AI support and enhance these industries' security and
operational requirements.
These markets have similar security needs with specific, unique
subject areas. At the same time, the operational functionality they
require from their integrated surveillance solutions differs, once
again, with a few areas of overlap.
We look beyond AI's promises at what works now for these industries
and briefly consider what's on the horizon, especially when it comes
to Agentic AI. While cloud uptake in the surveillance world in Africa
has been slow, we look at the latest on-premises, cloud, or hybrid
approaches available today.
The capabilities of AI certainly make cloud services a reality, but
how does the end user know if their cloud service provider delivers
the quality required and fulfils all regulatory and compliance
requirements? Privacy is on everyone's mind, with many international
regulations forcing companies to take it seriously, but does PoPIA
effectively cover surveillance videos and images?
As companies look for more operational benefits in addition to
security functionality from their surveillance installations, how are
platform vendors responding? Are they still developing their own AI
analytics or have they moved to open their systems to the various
services (cloud-based or otherwise) that specialise in certain
functionality?
Of course, cybersecurity is a critical aspect of the surveillance
industry today, no matter where your data is stored and processed. We
look at what is being done to secure surveillance installations, from
the camera to the server, even if the server is someone else's
computer.
Delegates will enjoy a unique learning experience, gaining insights
from world-class presenters and getting a firsthand look at the latest
offerings from surveillance solutions and service providers. This is a
chance to ask questions and discuss specific surveillance requirements
you may have. And, as always, there will be plenty of networking
opportunities.
